Wool Harvesting Industrial Relations and Workplace Operations.
 
All employees working in the Wool Harvesting System were employed on a casual basis under the Shear Express Australian Workplace Agreement; not under any agricultural or pastoral industry award.

Most shearing industry employment awards were first written in the 1800’s and are little changed – completely unsuitable to meet the demands of a modern workforce.

The Shear Express AWA was specifically designed to meet the working conditions and employment requirements of the Wool Harvesting System.  Current worker wages are based on hourly or daily rates of pay. The intended Shear Express AWA for Commercial Operations will see all workers employed on a casual basis and paid on a “variable piece rate”.

The Wool Harvesting System offers flexible employment for both men and women, working in a modern environment, that meets the OH&S requirements expected today in other industries.
