Wool Harvesting Occupational Health and Workplace Environment
 The Wool Harvesting System design aims to provide workers with a safe, ergonomically comfortable and pleasant working environment.
The colour scheme has been selected from standard colours for attractiveness, safety, ease of climate control and operational practicality. The pale blue interior walls provide a soothing colour that does not conflict with other internal colours, and provides the best colour conditions for working with wool fibre. Natural fluorescent lighting allows for 24-hour operation if desired.
The white exterior walls reflect heat. Roof and walls are made from reinforced fibreglass sandwich panels, and are fully insulated. The Wool Harvesting System will be fitted with heating and air-conditioning to meet any necessary heating and cooling requirements.
Engineering and designs meet relevant Australian Standards for engineering and safety.
Work platforms accommodate variations in worker height.
All de-fleecing stations are fitted with touch sensitive handpiece switches. These have proved to be efficient and safe
.
Sheep are restrained throughout the process, and sheep positioning at all stations is powered; resulting in working weights being less than OH&S requirements for both men and women.
The noise level inside the foldout shed is within acceptable levels for occupational hygiene and comfort.
OH&S inspections of field operations indicate the Wool Harvester provides a safe working environment.
